Mulch Under Trampoline

Should you put mulch under trampoline? This is a matter of personal preference and what suits your trampoline best.

It will depend on the material used to make the mulch, your own preferences, and the amount of time you want to spend maintaining your trampoline.

How To Spread Mulch Under a Trampoline?

If you decide to put mulch under your trampoline, make sure that it is not a heavy one. If it is too heavy, it will decrease the diameter of your jumping mat significantly. This will affect its bounce and will make it less safe than before.

The best thing to do is to install some kind of wood barrier that separates the mat from the throwaway or wood mulch (see picture below). The barrier will help you avoid any damage caused by moisture because the trampoline will be elevated from the ground. The barrier can be made out of lumber or treated 2×4’s and should be at least 3 inches high so that kids won’t be able to step on it while jumping on/off the trampoline. You can also use a decorative pallet for this same purpose (see picture below).

The main reason why you should not put mulch under your trampoline is that it will be very difficult to remove.

Moisture can cause the mat to mold and mildew while the mulch will stick to the surface of the mat and make it hard to clean. There have been plenty of situations where people have had to remove all the wood in order to get rid of the mold and mildew. This isn’t something you want to do, so it is best not to go with this option.

What kind of wood mulch should you use?

In my opinion, there are two types of wood mulches that are great for trampolines: Pine straw and hardwood.

I prefer pine straw because it does not get as heavy as hardwood, but I also know that some people don’t like its smell or are concerned about using an artificial product (even though it is 100% organic). If you decide to use pine straw, I’d recommend using a mix between 2/3 of wood mulch and 1/3 of pine straw.

Which wood mulch is the best for trampolines?

The best wood mulch for trampolines is hardwood because it is the lightest one you can find. There are a lot of reasons why hardwood is the best wood mulch for trampolines.

It does not absorb much water as other types of mulches, it doesn’t get moldy, and it doesn’t make the mat soggy (pine straw does). Hardwood also has a better smell than pine straw (the smell is very subtle though).

The amount of moisture that your trampoline absorbs from the ground will depend on several factors: your climate, soil type, the type of wood mulch used and how wet it gets. If you don’t have a lot of rainfall in your area, you probably won’t have to worry about this issue. You might want to check what kind of wood mulch other people are using in their trampolines because this will give you some idea on what type would be best for yours too.

How to put mulch under trampoline?

Mulch will not only suppress weeds but also insulate the ground. It’s very important to keep the ground frozen in the winter months.

However, it is not a good idea to put mulch directly onto concrete as it will take moisture from the concrete away and can cause cracking.

The best way is lay down landscape fabric on top of concrete. Then add heavy duty weed barrier over that, and then fill with mulch.

The mulch will be held in place by landscape fabric. The landscape fabric will prevent weeds from growing up and through the mulch for years to come.

Landscape fabric is a heavy duty plastic mesh material that is used by landscapers in heavy traffic areas where mulch is used.

Landscape fabric laid over concrete with weed barrier over it and then mulch on top of that.

It is not complicated, just a little more work than just laying mulch on top of the concrete. But it’s worth the time it takes to do this as your trampoline will last much longer without having to worry about weeds growing up through the cracks of the concrete.

How to make wood mulch on your own?

There are two ways to make your own wood mulch: you can either use a wood chipper or hire a company to do it for you.

If you want to use a wood chipper, you’ll need some tools like a chipper, a sifter, and some bags. If you want to hire someone else to do the job for you, there are companies like Quality Landscaping that have all the necessary equipment and tools needed to make your own wood mulch.

The best place to find quality hardwood mulch is from landscaping companies in your area. Whether it’s from a tree service or another company that specializes in hardwood mulch, it is very likely that they will be able to sell you high-quality hardwood mulch for very little money.

This is because they have easy access to people that need their services and need as much business as possible in order to increase their profits. This will help you save time and money at the same time.
